Mae Jam  /  Chae Sorn National Park  /  Province: Lampang  /  Thailand

Mae Jam is a small coffee-growing community surrounded by lush forests and valleys near Chae Son National Park. The region's cool mountain climate, high elevation, and fertile soils provide favourable conditions for cultivating specialty Arabica coffee.

Mae Jam Coffee Community Enterprise is part of the Royal Forest Department's Management of Multi-purpose Forest for Sustainable Development through the King's Philosophy Project. The initiative encourages local farming communities to transition away from monoculture farming toward more diverse agroforestry systems, cultivating shade-grown coffee alongside crops such as macadamia and avocado.

Through this approach, the community aims to strengthen local livelihoods, preserve natural resources, and create new opportunities for younger generations of farmers. For Mae Jam, coffee represents more than an agricultural crop. It offers a way to connect economic opportunity with the long-term care of the land and the surrounding forests.
